For someone who is new to Bitcoin, what is the easiest way to own a bitcoin wallet, purchase, and then trade Bitcoin?

- Open an account on a Bitcoin exchange; preferably Coinbase
- download a bitcoin app on your smartphone, tablet, PC, etc.
- create a wallet
- buy some coins and you are good to go

you can make a new account on any online exchange, it would provide you with a wallet but not private key plus the exchanges allow you to trade through there platform too.

but exchanges are like third parties to me. They own your bitcoins. I would recommend you to do this in start only but later get your personal wallets till then you also realize the dif between scam trading websites and trusted ones.

as you are a beginner so exchanges could work for you and mean while you can understand and learn more about bitcoins and its other bitcoin providing services.
