Would this be legal if you don't pay taxes on your bitcoin gains in the US?

Buying or Receiving Bitcoin is much like purchasing a gift card. Normally, there are no sales taxes or income taxes (a notable excepting Australia that does receive GST on the Bitcoin total) but you may have to pay VAT or sales taxes on the fees percentage charged by the exchange for the facility of selling you the coins.
