As far as the network is concerned, those bitcoins now have a place with the recipient. The ownership of bitcoins is defined by who claims the private key to the public key the bitcoins currently dwell in. It doesn't make a difference who possessed them before, those bitcoins now belong to the recipient.

this is one of the flaw and benefit both that transactions performed using bitcoins can't be reversed.
